THE ROUTE

Isla Isabel: A Journey Between Heaven, Sea, and Earth

Day 1: Isla Isabel — Nature from Untamed Volcanic Land

This adventure begins as Tepic barely wakes up. We’ll arrive in San Blas for a first breakfast stop at Narum Restaurant before continuing our maritime crossing.

The real quest starts at the San Blas Nautical Scale, where a boat awaits to take us toward Ecomata. For two hours, the deep blue ocean is your only path until the volcanic silhouette of Isla Isabel finally emerges. We’ll cruise along the coast, admiring rock formations sculpted by the sea and colonies of seabirds soaring above. Then, dive into its crystal-clear waters to enjoy the vibrant marine life.

In the afternoon, share a local meal featuring the star of Nayarit’s gastronomy: Pescado Zarandeado (slow-grilled seasoned fish). Dine by the sea, feeling the privilege of being in such a remote territory. Later, hike the island’s trails to spot Frigates and the famous Blue-Footed Boobies. Watch the sunset from the lighthouse, witnessing the sun melt into the Pacific. As night falls, experience stargazing while camping on the island—an unforgettable connection between earth, sea, and sky.

Day 2: Island Sunrise and a Farewell Among Pacific Mangroves

On day two, you’ll wake up before the sun. The experience continues with a walk toward the crater lake as the sky turns shades of pink. Put on your gear for a morning snorkel session in the pristine waters.

Later, we’ll board the boat for a two-hour journey toward Boca de Camichín. Upon arrival, trade the motor for a paddle to explore the Marismas Nacionales by kayak. This is one of Mexico’s most vital mangrove systems. Navigate through natural canals surrounded by diverse birdlife and ancient roots emerging from the water. You’ll even participate in oyster harvesting, learning the techniques and the deep respect for the ecosystem from local fishermen.

The perfect finale arrives with lunch at Ecomata Restaurant, savoring fresh seafood with the authentic taste of the ocean. Use your free time to walk, rest, and reflect on the memories of the salt air and the volcanic sunrise before our return trip.
