THE ROUTE

Extreme Adventure in Nuevo León

Day 1: Discovering Fundidora

Monterrey welcomes you with a dynamic introduction to its industrial heritage and modern urban energy — all within walking distance of your hotel.

Upon arrival at Aeropuerto Internacional de Monterrey, transfer to Holiday Inn Express Fundidora, ideally located beside Parque Fundidora. Once home to one of northern Mexico’s most important steel foundries, the site is now recognized by the National Institute of Anthropology and History as an Industrial Archaeology Site Museum. Its preserved furnaces, warehouses, and towering steel structures form a cultural and recreational corridor best explored on foot.

The remainder of the day is free to enjoy museums, green spaces, dining options, and the vibrant atmosphere that defines this revitalized urban landmark.

Day 2: Nature and Zip Lines

The Sierra Madre Oriental sets the tone for a day of mountain scenery, adventure, and small-town charm.

After breakfast, depart for Santiago. Your first stop is the majestic Cascada Cola de Caballo, where a 27-meter waterfall cascades dramatically through lush mountain vegetation. Here, optional adventure activities are available, including the Roller Zip — a 330-meter zip line with curves and drops — and a canopy circuit featuring four zip lines totaling 500 meters, along with suspended bridges and a tightrope crossing above the river.

Later, continue to the Pueblo Mágico of Santiago (Villa de Santiago) for lunch and a stroll through its historic center and scenic lookout point, where colonial architecture and sweeping mountain views capture the region’s character.

In the evening, transfer to Hotel Rincón de Santiago for rest and preparation ahead of the next day’s canyon adventure.

Día 2

Day 3: Into the Matacanes Canyon

The day begins early, venturing deep into one of Nuevo León’s most breathtaking natural landscapes, where water and stone carve an unforgettable route through the Sierra Madre Oriental.

Meet in the lobby and head toward the Cola de Caballo area, the starting point for your Matacanes expedition. Widely considered one of Mexico’s most spectacular canyons, this experience blends hiking, rappelling, cliff jumps, and swimming through caves, narrow rock corridors, and brilliant turquoise pools ranging from 4 to 12 meters deep.

A light breakfast snack is provided to keep your energy steady throughout the journey. After completing the expedition, enjoy a well-earned meal before transferring back to rest following an intense day immersed in nature.
