A forested sanctuary on the western edge of Ciudad de México, this national park is celebrated for its biodiversity and restorative calm. Towering oaks, pines, and oyamel firs shape a cool mountain landscape where birdsong replaces city noise, creating an atmosphere of rare tranquility. The experience pairs a guided hike through wooded trails with a visit to a 17th-century monastery and a scenic lookout offering sweeping views over the Valley of Mexico.

The day begins at the meeting point: Fiesta Americana Reforma. From there, transportation is provided to the national park, allowing time for a light breakfast upon arrival.

Before setting out, guides share key recommendations to ensure a safe and rewarding hike through forests of oak, pine, and oyamel. As you walk, the crisp mountain air and the sound of birds overhead create a deep sense of immersion in nature.

Along the route, a panoramic viewpoint invites you to pause and take in spectacular vistas of Mexico City from above — a striking contrast between wilderness and urban scale.

The journey also includes a visit to the former monastery, founded in the 17th century and now home to the Museo Bicentenario del Ex Convento del Desierto de los Leones. Its cloisters and stone corridors offer a contemplative close to a day defined by history, landscape, and quiet discovery.
