Day 1: A Holistic and Historic Journey on Two Wheels
The trip begins early in the community of Jauja, the meeting point where cyclists gather to prep before hitting the trail.
The first leg of the ride heads toward the Ex-Hacienda La Escondida. Upon arrival, you’ll participate in a brief yoga and meditation session held in the ancient hacienda’s gardens. After the practice, we’ll take a break for a light snack and hydration with natural local drinks.
The next stretch takes you to Bellavista, a town renowned for its industrial legacy. Here stands the historic Bellavista Textile Factory, founded in the 19th century and considered a cornerstone of the state’s industrial development. After touring the site, you’ll enjoy a regional breakfast at Los Telares Restaurant in a relaxed atmosphere. Post-breakfast, there’s time for photography and observing the rural landscape and the town’s historic architecture before hopping back on your bike.
The route continues toward Puga, a community deeply tied to sugar production. Keep pedaling toward the Ex-Hacienda de Mora, a colonial-era agricultural estate once linked to vast sugarcane cultivation.
Our next destination is Laguna de Mora, a beautiful body of water surrounded by lush vegetation and hills. In this natural setting, we’ll engage in one of the tour’s most creative activities: a canvas painting workshop (pintura sobre manta). After the workshop, enjoy a moment of lakeside meditation. Finally, we’ll pedal back toward Jauja to close the circuit.
