Discovering Ejido San José: The Heart of “El Cielo”

The expedition kicks off at the Gómez Farías Main Plaza, where the air begins to feel fresh and wild. We’ll board 4×4 off-road vehicles specifically designed to conquer the rugged terrain of the “El Cielo” Biosphere Reserve.

Our first stop is the Main Lookout (Mirador), a perfect spot to capture breathtaking panoramic photos of the mountain range. We then visit the Alta Cima Ejido, where you can meet local artisans, taste handmade regional liqueurs, and stretch your legs before the final ascent.

Upon arriving at Ejido San José, you’ll check into your cabin and gear up for exploration. We’ll start with a guided trek through Viveros Valley, a stunning area filled with endemic flora. The day ends with a hearty regional dinner by the fire, where we’ll roast marshmallows under one of the clearest starry skies in Mexico before a peaceful night’s rest.

Start your day with a traditional highland breakfast to fuel your soul. We’ll hike through misty, forested trails until we reach the mystical Cueva del Agua (Water Cave), a subterranean wonder hidden in the mountain.

For those seeking a rush, you’ll soar through the treetops on a zipline experience, feeling the cool mountain breeze. Afterward, enjoy a horseback ride through the surroundings of the ejido, a perfect way to connect with the rural pace of life. Finally, we’ll board our 4×4 vehicles once more for the descent, concluding our journey back at the Gómez Farías Plaza.
