After breakfast, set out on a guided walking tour through Campeche’s traditional neighborhoods, discovering the stories, architecture, and cultural layers that define this UNESCO-listed city.
At the end of the tour, enjoy a typical local beverage to round out the experience. The afternoon is free to explore at your own pace.
Day 3: Calakmul Expedition
Enjoy a boxed breakfast before departing for the Calakmul Archaeological Zone, where you’ll immerse yourself in the site’s monumental scale and singular beauty.
To elevate the experience, you’ll savor a traditional lunch in a local community — authentic flavors that deepen your connection to the region.
Day 4: Camino Real Traditions
After breakfast, depart for Hecelchakan to explore the regional market and indulge in a classic torta de cochinita pibil.
Continue to the municipality of Calkini to visit Becal, where local artisans demonstrate the intricate weaving of jipi japa and share the techniques behind this celebrated craft.
On your return to Campeche, stop in Pomuch to visit its artisanal bakeries and distinctive cemetery, known for its tradition of exposed and carefully tended ancestral remains. The remainder of the afternoon is yours to enjoy.
Day 5: Into the Heart of the Chenes
Discover Hopelchén, gateway to the Chenes region, where you’ll explore archaeological sites set amid lush landscapes and visit a center dedicated to the breeding and care of the melipona bee — a stingless species prized for producing the region’s prized honey.
You’ll also join local artisans for a hands-on workshop to create your own LEC (Lak’ech Ek’), a traditional Maya tortilla container still used in communities across the Yucatán Peninsula.
