THE ROUTE

Linares in Its Natural Essence

Day 1: A Day at Fundidora

Arrival in Monterrey marks the beginning of a journey through a city where industrial heritage coexists with expansive cultural and recreational spaces.

Activities:

Upon arrival at Aeropuerto Internacional de Monterrey, the group is transferred to the Holiday Inn Express Fundidora, located next to Parque Fundidora.

This free-admission urban park is one of the city’s most important public spaces, known for its inclusive and multifunctional character, green areas, recreational zones, and vibrant cultural life. Fundidora holds the distinction of being recognized as an Industrial Archaeology Site Museum by Mexico’s National Institute of Anthropology and History due to the historical value of its large-scale structures, former industrial warehouses, and steel machinery—now preserved as museum pieces and testimonies to Nuevo León’s industrial development.

Its proximity to the hotel allows guests to explore the park on foot and discover various points of interest without additional transfers.

The remainder of the day is free for independent activities—exploring the park, visiting nearby museums, or simply relaxing. Return to the hotel in the evening for rest.

Day 2: The Magic of Linares

This day focuses on the cultural and artisanal heritage of southern Nuevo León, connecting traditional crafts, historic architecture, and the productive memory of the region through two key towns.

Activities:

After breakfast and check-out, we depart toward the Pueblo Mágico of Linares, making a preliminary stop in Hualahuises, known for its artisanal tradition.

Here, we visit a traditional saddlery workshop to learn step by step about leather craftsmanship—from cutting and engraving to final stitching—using basic hand tools. Guests observe the handmade production of saddles, baseball gloves, and wooden spinning tops, reflecting techniques passed down through generations.

We then continue to Linares, Pueblo Mágico and the first episcopal seat of northeastern Mexico. A guided tour of its historic center reveals architectural landmarks such as the Catedral de San Felipe Apóstol, the Chapel of Señor de la Misericordia—recognized as a private church for public use—as well as notable buildings from various historical periods, including the Casino de Linares, Botica Morelos, Gran Teatro Benítez, and the Municipal Palace, now the Linares Museum.

With more than 300 historic buildings, Linares holds the highest number of INAH-protected properties in the state outside the Monterrey metropolitan area.

Lunch is included. In the afternoon, the experience continues with a visit to the old sugar mill aqueduct, a unique architectural feature in the region. Here, guests learn about the sugar haciendas that shaped the local economy over the past three centuries and witness a demonstration of traditional sugarcane milling using a historic trapiche.

At the end of the day, transfer to the hotel for overnight stay.

Día 2

Day 3: Santiago and Natural Landscapes

The journey continues toward Santiago, another Pueblo Mágico celebrated for its colonial architecture and mountain scenery.

Guests explore its charming historic center and enjoy views of the surrounding Sierra Madre Oriental. The day includes time to connect with the region’s natural beauty, whether through scenic viewpoints, local gastronomy, or leisurely walks through its emblematic plazas and streets.

Return to Monterrey for overnight accommodation.
