Day 2: Maya Ruins and Pink Lagoons

A second day dedicated to exploring an ancient Maya city and the natural landscapes of the northern coast of Yucatan.

Activities: The journey begins in Valladolid with a transfer to the Ek Balam archaeological zone. During the tour, we visit its main structures, including the imposing Acropolis, known for its well-preserved reliefs and sculptures, while offering a panoramic view from the top of the building.

Subsequently, we continue to Rio Lagartos, located within the Ria Lagartos Biosphere Reserve. On-site, we take a boat tour through the estuary to observe mangroves, birds, and local wildlife. During the activity, the traditional “Maya bath” is performed, applying mineral-rich clay to the skin before rinsing it off in the estuary waters. After the tour, we enjoy lunch.

Later, we transfer to Las Coloradas, where we take a tour of the tourist park aboard safari-style carts to see the pink lagoons formed by salt mining activity and observe the unique landscape of the area.
