Cross the soul of Veracruz on a five-day expedition that blends gastronomy, ancestral ritual, and extraordinary landscapes. From the cultural capital of Xalapa to the lush rainforest of Catemaco, with stops in Coatepec, Tlacotalpan, and the volcanic region of Los Tuxtlas, this journey reveals the biocultural essence of the Gulf of Mexico.

Route: Culture, coffee and Mysticism

Day 1: From the Heroic Port to the Cultural Capital

Your adventure begins upon arrival at Aeropuerto Internacional de Veracruz. The first experience is a city tour of Veracruz before transferring inland to Xalapa.

You’ll be welcomed with a traditional meal prepared by Chef Clarita (MasterChef México), accompanied by local artists.

In the afternoon, explore the essence of the capital: panoramic views of Cofre de Perote from Parque Juárez, the murals inside the Government Palace, historic alleyways, and the iconic Barrio de Xallitic.

Día 1

Day 2: Coffee Aromas and Sugarcane Spirits

The morning is devoted to the flavors of the region. Visit the Museo Bola de Oro in Pacho Viejo to learn about Veracruz’s coffee heritage, followed by a visit to Mahuixtlán to discover the artisanal process of sugarcane aguardiente distillation.

In the afternoon, explore the Pueblos Mágicos of Coatepec and Xico, celebrated for their colonial architecture and traditional cuisine. Return to Xalapa for an evening at leisure.

Día 2

Day 3: The Papaloapan Splendor and Arrival in Los Tuxtlas

After breakfast, depart for Tlacotalpan, a UNESCO World Heritage city. Enjoy a boat ride along the Río Papaloapan, visit the sanctuary of the Virgen de la Candelaria, and tour the city by tram, including the house of Agustín Lara.

By late afternoon, continue to San Andrés Tuxtla for a nighttime walk and welcome dinner in the heart of the volcanic region.

Día 3

Day 4: Mysticism and Untouched Beaches

Today we venture into the Reserva de la Biósfera Los Tuxtlas, one of Mexico’s most vital ecological reserves. The journey leads to Barra de Sontecomapan, where rainforest meets the sea.

Free time allows you to enjoy lunch and relax on some of the Gulf’s most pristine beaches, surrounded by vibrant ecosystems, before returning to the city for the night.

Día 4

Day 5: The Magic of Nanciyaga and a Jarocho Farewell

The route concludes with a sensory immersion at Reserva Ecológica Nanciyaga in Catemaco.

Walk through jungle trails, learn about Olmec culture, and participate in a traditional cleansing ritual led by local shamans, including therapeutic clay masks.

Before departure, savor a final traditional meal at Laguna de Mandinga and enjoy a brief tour of Boca del Río, concluding the journey with transfer to the airport for your return home.
