Day 1: A Journey Through Sacred Waters and Colonial Heritage
The day begins with a transfer from Tepic toward San Blas, featuring a coastal breakfast at Las Garzas—the ideal spot to try local specialties like machaca de pescado (shredded seasoned fish). Afterward, we’ll tour the historic port area to learn about its strategic importance during the Spanish Colonial era.
The highlight of the morning is a boat journey to Tatéi Haramara (The White Stone), a Wixárika sacred site considered the dwelling of the Goddess of the Sea. This is a moment for deep respect and spiritual connection with the Pacific’s energy.
Back on mainland, the experience continues at the historic Ex-Hacienda Flamingos, where you’ll uncover stories and legends of this 19th-century estate. Later, at El Borrego Beach, you’ll dive into local gastronomy with a ceviche workshop. This is followed by a powerful ancestral ceremonial dance, a living expression of the Wixárika worldview dedicated to the gods. Your cultural immersion deepens with a workshop to craft a traditional “Ojo de Dios” (God’s Eye)—a symbolic Wixárika weaving representing protection and spiritual guidance.
After an oceanfront lunch at Tuna Break, you’ll have time to enjoy the beach before visiting the world-famous Juan Bananas Bakery. Here, you’ll learn the history behind the port’s iconic banana bread and sample various traditional desserts. The journey concludes with a peaceful sunset contemplation at the Matanchén Pier, reflecting on a day filled with history and soul.
