Day 1: A Day in San Carlos
The adventure begins along Sonora’s dramatic litoral, with a day devoted to coastal scenery, marine life, and time to unwind by the water.
Departing from Hermosillo, we head toward the shore to visit a pearl farm, where you’ll learn about the cultivation process and the economic and cultural importance of pearl farming in the region.
For those interested, an optional visit to Estero El Soldado offers a chance to observe native flora and fauna in a protected estuary ecosystem. The route continues to Parque de la Iguana, a local landmark ideal for photos, followed by a scenic lookout where the dramatic meeting of desert and sea unfolds in sweeping views.
Later, there’s time to enjoy lunch at a local restaurant (additional cost) and relax at Playa Piedras Pintas and/or Playa Los Algodones — both perfect for strolling the shoreline or simply soaking in the coastal calm. An optional yacht excursion is also available for those who wish to experience the Sea of Cortez from the water.
As the day winds down, we return to Hermosillo, carrying with us the textures, colors, and open horizons of Sonora’s remarkable coast.
