A day dedicated to discovering the cacao tradition of Tabasco and its link with the history and gastronomy of the region.
Activities: The day begins with a transfer to the Comalcalco archaeological zone, a unique site in Mexico built with fired clay bricks. During the tour, we visit its main structures and learn the history of this ancient Maya city. Subsequently, we continue to Hacienda Jesus Maria CACEP, where the cacao process is explained from cultivation to its transformation into chocolate, with a tour of the plantation and production areas. The experience continues with a taste of local gastronomy in regional restaurants such as El Teapaneco, Los Tulipanes, or El Eden.
This day is dedicated to exploring the Tenosique region and the Usumacinta River landscapes using one of the new railway systems in Southeast Mexico.
Activities: We start early with a transfer from Villahermosa to the Maya Train station in Palenque. From here, we board the train for a brief 35-minute panoramic journey to the Boca del Cerro station in Tenosique. This station is located next to the bridge crossing the Usumacinta River. Upon arrival, we begin adventure activities. For adrenaline seekers, we first perform a jump from the Boca del Cerro bridge. Afterward, we board a boat to navigate the Usumacinta River, the largest in Mexico, through a canyon surrounded by jungle and high rock walls. The experience continues with the exploration of Cueva del Tigre (Tiger Cave), a natural cavity known for its rock formations and bat colonies, guided by specialists.
Discover some of the main cultural and museum spaces of the Tabascan capital.
Activities: We begin with a visit to the La Venta Park-Museum, where we walk through the park to observe monumental sculptures of the Olmec culture, including several colossal heads, integrated into a tropical jungle environment. Subsequently, we head to the Zona Luz (Historic Center) of Villahermosa to see the local architecture. The experience continues with a visit to the Carlos Pellicer Camara Regional Museum of Anthropology, exploring its rooms to learn about archaeological pieces and the pre-Hispanic history of Tabasco.
Program closure and return.
