This five-day journey invites you to discover the very heart of Mexico. We will explore the subterranean tunnels of Guanajuato, follow the footsteps of insurgents in the Cradle of Independence, and marvel at the "Mexican Sistine Chapel" in Atotonilco. The expedition culminates in the nostalgic atmosphere of Mineral de Pozos, a former mining hub that offers a unique blend of history, haunting architecture, and tradition.

Day 1: From Guadalajara to the Heart of the Bajío

Our adventure begins with a private transfer from Guadalajara to Guanajuato City (approx. 3.5 hours). Upon arrival, check into your hotel and enjoy your first evening in this vibrant, vertical city.

Día 1

Day 2: Guanajuato — A World Heritage Masterpiece

Dedicate the day to discovering the Baroque and Neoclassical grandeur of the capital on an immersive walking tour.

  • Architectural Gems: Visit the spectacular Juárez Theater, the University of Guanajuato, the Basilica, and the Palace of the Powers at the Plaza de la Paz.
  • Cultural Icons: Explore the Diego Rivera Museum, the romantic Alley of the Kiss, and the bustling Hidalgo Market, concluding at the historic Alhóndiga de Granaditas.

The Night: Experience a Callejoneada, a centuries-old tradition where you’ll wander through secret alleys accompanied by the music and wit of a Estudiantina.

Día 2

Day 3: The Independence Trail and the "Mexican Sistine Chapel"

After breakfast, we head to Dolores Hidalgo, the town where the struggle for Mexican Independence began.

  • History: Visit the Hidalgo House Museum and the Parish of Our Lady of Sorrows. We’ll also stop at the grand mausoleum of the legendary singer José Alfredo Jiménez.
  • Art: Continue to Atotonilco to witness the breathtaking frescoes of the Sanctuary of Jesús Nazareno, world-renowned as the Mexican Sistine Chapel.

San Miguel de Allende: Spend the afternoon in this colonial jewel, visiting a local craft brewery for a tasting before returning to Guanajuato to rest.

Día 3

Day 4: The Mysticism of Mineral de Pozos

Today we venture to Mineral de Pozos, a Pueblo Mágico that was once a thriving mining town and later a famous “ghost town.”

  • Mining Heritage: Explore the ruins of the Santa Brígida Mine (with its iconic three chimneys) and the Cinco Señores Mine.

Nature & Culture: Walk through aromatic lavender fields and admire the architecture of the Old Model School. It’s a day to connect with the Chichimeca and Spanish roots of this revived town.

Día 4

Day 5: Return to Guadalajara

Enjoy a final traditional breakfast at your hotel before our return transfer to Guadalajara, concluding a journey through the absolute essence of colonial Mexico.
