THE ROUTE

A Breath of Fresh Air in the Paradise of San Blas

Day 1: A Taste of Sea and Jungle

The journey begins in San Blas from Tepic, starting the day where the jungle meets the sea. Kick off your morning with an aromatic coffee at Narum Restaurant, where birdsong mingles with the Pacific breeze.

Later, take a stroll along the Matanchén Pier, browsing artisanal stalls that showcase the intricate handmade crafts of the local inhabitants. By midday, a boat will whisk you away to La Tovara, navigating through lush mangroves and tranquil waters; keep a close watch as your guide points out crocodiles basking in the sun.

In the afternoon, the ocean takes center stage as you dine beachfront at Ardea Restaurant, located within the Tova Beach Club. Enjoy fresh seafood while the rhythmic sound of the waves accompanies every bite. Time slows down here, leading you eventually to Aldea Camalote, your eco-friendly lodging overlooking the bay, where you can settle in and relax in an outdoor Jacuzzi. As night falls, dinner is served at Baos Beach Club, where live music, warm lights, and the murmur of the sea create the perfect evening.

Day 2: History, Heritage, and the Soul of the Sea

Your second day starts with a hearty breakfast at La Chona Restaurant. Between generous portions and freshly brewed coffee, soak in the town’s laid-back atmosphere.

By midday, you’ll reach one of the most iconic landmarks: the Contaduría Fort. From this height, you can contemplate the vast ocean and understand why this site was key to the defense of the Spanish Pacific. Next, visit the Sailor’s Church (Iglesia Marinera), and as you leave, let the sweet aroma guide you to the Juan Bananas Museum and Bakery to taste the legendary banana bread, a true symbol of the port.

At 2:00 PM, head to the Old Customs Building (Ex Aduana de San Blas), now a vibrant Cultural Center. Walk through its corridors, imagining the colonial-era trade that once flowed through these halls. Continue through the Historic Center to admire viceregal architecture, ancient doors, and elegant wrought-iron balconies.

The final stop is Tatéi Haramara, also known as La Piedra Blanca (The White Stone). This is a sacred site for the Wixárika people, representing the origin of the world in their spiritual worldview—a powerful place to reflect before your journey concludes.
